New Albany Area In-Person MA Meeting

Thursday 5:30 PM at "Saratoga Village" in Suite 10. That is in Malta at Exit 12 of I-87 and NY 67 on the SE corner of the interchange behind the new motel. You can almost see the place from the Northway behind the new hotel.

What we are NOT:

  • A prohibition or law enforcement connected group. We have no opinion on drug laws and simply don't care if it is legal or not. Also, we do not inform on anyone to the authorities or their family, friends, employers and others for drug use.
  • We do not come and tell you that you have a problem. It is up to you to make that call.
  • We are not a cult, we don't demand that you do or believe in anything, nor pledge any abstinence, money or time to us. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using marijuana.
  • We are not a bunch of fanatics. Anyone from any other 12 Step or therapy group is welcome. We welcome people from Alcoholics & Narcotics Anonymous, Alanon, Rational Recovery, drug recovery groups, group therapy, etc. We do not require that you only use MA.

Marijuana Anonymous Preamble

Marijuana Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share our experience, strength, and hope with each other that we may solve our common problem and help others to recover from marijuana addiction.

The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using marijuana. There are no dues or fees for membership. We are self-supporting through our own contributions. MA is not affiliated with any religious or secular institutions or organizations and has no opinion on any outside controversies or causes. Our primary purpose is to stay free of marijuana and to help the marijuana addict who still suffers achieve the same freedom. We can do this by practicing our suggested twelve steps of recovery and by being guided as a group by our twelve traditions.

Marijuana Anonymous uses the basic 12 Steps of Recovery founded by Alcoholics Anonymous, because it has been proven that the 12 Step Recovery program works!

Who Is A Marijuana Addict

We who are marijuana addicts know the answer to this question. Marijuana controlled our lives! We lost interest in all else; our dreams went up in smoke. Ours is a progressive illness often leading us to addictions to other drugs, including alcohol. Our lives, our thinking, and our desires centered around marijuana - scoring it, dealing it, and finding ways to stay high.

MARIJUANA ANONYMOUS uses the basic 12 Steps of Recovery founded by Alcoholics Anonymous, because it has been proven that the 12 Step Recovery program works!

Serenity Prayer:

God grant us the serenity to Accept the things We cannot change; The Courage to change the things We can; And the Wisdom to know the difference.

What many of us don't realize is that the Serenity Prayer was written by theologian, Reinhold Niebuhr, and has additional verses as follow: "Living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time; accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it:
Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever in the next. Amen"

The Unity Prayer:

or Rozanne's Prayer

I put my hand in yours, and together we can do what we could never do alone. No longer is there a sense of hopelessness, no longer must we each depend upon our own unsteady willpower. We are all together now, reaching out our hands for power and strength greater than ours, and as we join hands, we find love and understanding beyond our wildest dreams.
